Privacy Policy — Fore! Golf App

1. The short version

Fore! is a golf app, not an ad network. We collect what we need to match you with tee times near you, keep money games honest, and keep the community accountable. We don't sell your data.

2. What we collect

• Account details: your email address and password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), plus your name.
• Golfer profile: username, photo, bio, skill tier, home course, walk-or-ride preference, and ping radius.
• Location: your approximate coordinates, derived from your home course or from your device when you allow it.
• Activity: tee times you post or claim, rounds and scorecards, friends and groups, money games, referee actions, and reputation flags.
• Support and safety records: disputes you file, suspensions, and staff decisions about your account.
• Technical data: device and browser information, and error reports when something breaks.

3. Location data

Location powers the whole point of the app — finding golfers and open tee slots near you. We store a coarsened version of your coordinates rather than a precise pin, and other golfers never see your exact location, only rough distance.

You can turn off device location and simply set a home course instead. If you do, matching still works, just centered on your course.

4. Money game records

Money games run on the honor system. Fore! never collects, holds, or transfers money, so we do not store payment card or bank details.

We do keep a record of each game: the format, the stated stake, who accepted, who the referee was, who was declared the winner, whether payment was confirmed, and any resulting debt, suspension, or appeal. These records support disputes and reputation, and they stay on file even after a game is settled.

5. What other golfers can see

• Public on your profile: your name, photo, bio, skill tier, home course, titles, reputation flags, and recent rounds.
• Shared with players in a game: your acceptance, payment confirmations, and the referee's ruling for that game.
• Never public: your email address, phone number, exact coordinates, and the private notes attached to staff decisions.

6. How we use it

• Match you with tee times, golfers, and groups at your level and in your area.
• Send pings and notifications about last-minute openings and game invitations.
• Run the digital handshake, referee assignment, debts, and suspension system.
• Investigate disputes, abuse reports, and no-shows.
• Fix bugs and keep the app running.

7. Who we share it with

We share data with the service providers that run the app on our behalf — hosting, database and authentication, email delivery, mapping and course lookup, and error monitoring. They may only use it to provide those services.

We also share when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users. We do not sell your personal information.

8. How long we keep it

Profile and activity data lives as long as your account does. Money game records, debts, suspensions, and staff decisions are retained after account deletion where we need them to resolve outstanding disputes or protect other players.

9. Your choices

• Edit or clear most profile details any time from your profile and golf preferences screens.
• Turn off device location in your browser or phone settings.
• Ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account, by emailing us.
• Deletion requests are honored unless an unpaid bet or open dispute is outstanding.

10. Children

Fore! is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

11. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to it is restricted by row-level security rules, and staff tools are limited by title. No system is perfect — use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if something looks wrong with your account.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we'll update the date at the top and prompt you in the app the next time you sign in.
